Mechanical
and Still Banks
The values stated in this guide are to be used only as a
guide. Values are not set to determine prices as auction and dealer values
vary greatly and are affected by demand and condition. The author does not
assume responsibility for any losses that are the result of consulting this
guide.
Values in this guide are based on Good to Near mint or very good, prestine,
excellent. Average condition pieces with little or no paint, broken or
missing parts are worth only what the market will bear. Usuallly 5 to 20
percent of very good value. As with all collectibles at this time book value
is not a realistic figure but is a starting point for most banks.
If you are the owner of an older bank whether it is a mechanical or still
bank you need to do a lot of research to insure you will get the highest
value for the piece. Mechanical banks are one of the highest valued
collectibles out there and some still command top dollar. Check on the
internet for collector clubs and associations before you attempt to sell the
piece.
